Welcome to the September/October e-edition of Inprint.
It is vital that the BPIF focuses on the key challenges
our sector faces, and that we do all we can to protect our Issue 63 | September/October 2020
industry and ensure it thrives in the future. On page 4,
our CEO, Charles Jarrold, talks about what the industry 4 13
has been up to since his last interview 3 months ago.
Training lies at the core of our strategy, and you can
read about recent developments on both pages 12 and
20. It is also important that we educate people about
the opportunities our industry affords. Many school-
leavers are pondering their options as they look to take
their first steps on a career path, but far too few of them
will consider the print industry as a viable option.
We are already aware of and understand the severe
impact that COVID-19 has had on our industry, and
on the economy as a whole, but our Printing Outlook
report on page 24 gives you more of an insight into
how we are coping as the rebuilding begins.
In our last issue, I mentioned the launch of our BPIF
webinars (The Print Network Webinar Series), and am 19
happy to report that these are going strong. Make sure
you book in fortnightly and check page 19 to see what’s
available and to register for future sessions. We have found
new ways of collaborating, and it's been wonderful to share
anecdotal tips and see a friendly face at 1pm on a Thursday.
For obvious reasons, we were unable to meet in
person on the terrace at the House of Commons this
year for our annual Members' Day, but we hope you
have registered for our Future Focus event (page 19).
This event is a truly collaborative effort with our partner
organisations and we have had a huge amount of industry
support across a range of sectors. Although it won’t feel
the same, we hope we will have the chance to interact CONTENTS
with even more of you online on 16 September.
