CORE SKILLS
A Lean Manufacturing Operative will have the skill and understanding to:

          1) Health & Safety: Work safely at all sheets, monitoring process and
times, complying with health and safety equipment data efficiently and legibly
legislation, regulations, and other using the correct terminology required to
relevant guidelines. Identifying risks meet the quality standard e.g. ISO 9002
within their processes and support/carry 6) Problem Solving: Demonstrate their
out countermeasure activities to improve ability to identify and resolve problems
safe working within the lean manufacturing
          2) Environmental: Comply with environment using effective problem
environmental procedures and systems solving tools and techniques. Manage
and contribute to the achievement of problems that may occur during the
specific standards e.g. ISO 14001 or other manufacturing process within the limits
relevant environmental standards and of their responsibility and escalate as
use the 4R’s (Reduce, Re-use, Recycle, appropriate
Recover) where possible 7) Continuous Improvement: Generate ideas
          3) Production: Demonstrate their ability to and contribute to process improvement
carry out their role effectively, efficiently activities individually or as part of a
and flexibly maintaining lean team through fact finding and analysis to
manufacturing principles to meet improve the safety, environment, quality,
customer’s demands e.g. JIT cost or production process. Identifying
          4) Lean Manufacturing Operations: and eliminating the 7 wastes (defects,
Demonstrate their skill and knowledge over production, transportation, waiting,
following SOPs and building their inventory, motion and processing)
versatility across a number of processes 8) Communication: Demonstrate
and process areas. Select and use communication skills which include oral,
appropriate tools, equipment and written, electronic (PC), information
materials to carry out the manufacturing boards or visual displays to effectively
            operation share information
          5) Quality Control: Demonstrate
            appropriate process documentation
            control. Accurately completing check
